Osun APC Crisis Deepens As Omisore Drags Party To Court Over Governorship Primaries
The crisis rocking the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has deepened as a former National Secretary of the party, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has dragged the party before a Federal High Court over the conduct of its governorship primaries in the state.
Naija News reports that Omisore, who was among the aspirants seeking the APC governorship ticket, was disqualified alongside some other contestants shortly before the primary election.
The disqualification of Omisore and other aspirants reportedly triggered dissatisfaction within the party and raised questions about the internal democratic process of the APC in Osun State.
Naija News understands that the development generated tension among party stakeholders and further deepened divisions within the state chapter.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing within the party to resolve the dispute and restore unity among aggrieved members.
ThisDay gathered that the elders’ caucus of the APC recently paid a visit to Omisore in his hometown of Ile-Ife in a bid to calm frayed nerves and persuade him to reconcile with other leaders of the party.
The move was also aimed at reintegrating the former senator into the fold of the party leadership in the state led by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.
