‘Please Bring Out Your Billboards, Don’t Bother About PDP Crisis’ – Makinde Tells Oyo Guber Aspirants
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged gubernatorial aspirants in the state to ignore the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and release their campaign billboards.
Naija News reports that the PDP has been entangled in a political crisis since the 2023 general elections, with almost every significant member in the party abandoning it for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP has also lost almost all its lawmakers and governors to the APC, with the latest being the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri.
Similarly, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently released the final list of candidates for the August 8, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.
In the released list, the PDP and Labour Party (LP) were missing, which may be connected to the crisis rocking the parties.
Despite the PDP being marred by litigation and a leadership crisis, Makinde, while addressing party faithful in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Thursday, said aspirants are free to release their campaign billboards with PDP logo despite the crisis rocking the party’s internal structures.
He said, “Today, I have freed everyone. Anyone who wants to contest for Oyo State Governor in 2027, please bring out your billboards.
“Don’t be bothered about the PDP crisis. Go ahead and put the PDP logo on your billboards.”
