No Opposition In Plateau, APC Will Contest 2027 Among Ourselves – Gov Mutfwang

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has declared that by the 2027 general elections, there would be no opposition to his party in Plateau State.

The governor made the remark on Tuesday in Jos, following the election of Rufus Bature as the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in the state.

Naija News understands that Bature and other members of the state executive committee emerged through a consensus arrangement.

Speaking after the exercise, Mutfwang expressed confidence that the party would maintain its dominance in Plateau ahead of the 2027 polls.

“By the grace of God, in 2027, we will only contest this election among ourselves. There will be no opposition in Plateau,” the governor said.

He added that the people of the state had continued to demonstrate trust in the party’s leadership and programmes.

“I believe the people of Plateau trust us, and they will continue to support us because they know we are working in their interest. The opportunity given to us will be used for the betterment of the people of the state. The time to unite Plateau is now,” he stated.

Calls for Unity, Reconciliation

The governor stressed the need for unity, tolerance and reconciliation within the party, describing the APC as a family whose internal disagreements must not undermine its shared vision.

While acknowledging that certain issues still required attention, he assured members that all outstanding concerns would be addressed amicably in the overall interest of the party.

He congratulated Bature and other members of the state executive committee, urging them to remain loyal to the party, the President and the people of Plateau State.

Mutfwang also announced a one-month statewide membership drive, directing every registered member to recruit at least 10 new members.

“As evangelists of the party, I charge you to go to every nook and cranny of the state and persuade more people to join us. A bigger and stronger party will serve the interest of Plateau State better,” he said.

He further encouraged members to promote the party’s e-membership registration initiative, noting that electoral success depends on both a robust party structure and effective grassroots mobilisation.

In his acceptance speech, Bature thanked party leaders and delegates for the confidence reposed in him and his team.

He described his re-election as both an honour and a responsibility, pledging to work diligently to meet the expectations of party members across the state.

Bature also highlighted achievements recorded during his previous tenure, including the election of three senators, 23 members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives, 17 local government chairmen and 325 councillors on the APC platform.

He assured members that the party leadership would continue to provide constructive oversight and support to ensure accountability and sustained electoral success in the state.
