Alausa Speaks On Resigning As Education Minister To Contest Lagos Governorship Election

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has dismissed reports claiming he may step down from his position to pursue the Lagos State governorship.

An online report had alleged, citing a source, that Alausa was considering resigning to focus on his ambition to contest the Lagos governorship election.

Reacting to the claim on Wednesday, the minister described the report as false.

He stated that he was present at the Federal Executive Council meeting and had no intention of leaving his role.

Naija News reports that Alausa said he remains fully committed to his duties at the Federal Ministry of Education and urged the public to disregard the rumours circulating about his resignation plans.

We’re still hard at work here at the FME, don’t believe the rumours 😌”, he tweeted.

The clarification comes amid growing political discussions ahead of the next governorship race in Lagos State.

In other news, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, has been re-elected for a second term in office.

Naija News reports that Ojelabi emerged on Tuesday at the party’s state congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly known as Onikan Stadium, amid a consensus arrangement that saw over 2,000 delegates from across the state endorse the new executive.

The exercise, described by party leaders as peaceful and orderly, reaffirmed Lagos’ dominance in the ruling party’s structure.
