Edo APC Executive Backs Tinubu, Okpebholo’s Second Term, Cites Outstanding Performance
The newly elected executive of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, led by Jarrett Tenebe, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo for second terms in office, citing what it described as their outstanding performance.
Naija News reports that the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Okpebholo, Patrick Akhere Ebojele, in a statement on Tuesday, disclosed that the decision was made during the APC congress.
Dignitaries at the state congress included Minister for Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Secretary to the Edo State Government, Barr. Musa Ikhilor, former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and other top party leaders and members.
Ebojele said the delegates of the party from the 192 wards across Edo State, who converged at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Hub, Benin City, to elect new executive members, unanimously returned the 36-member state executive, led by Tenebe, for another four-year term.
According to him, Tenebe, in his acceptance speech, said the re-elected executive had formally endorsed Tinubu and Okpebholo for second terms, noting that both leaders have demonstrated strong performance and improved the lives of Nigerians and Edo residents.
He also announced the endorsement of Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Oshiomhole, for a second term in the Senate, citing quality representation.
While thanking party faithful for their unwavering support, Tenebe commended delegates for their trust and overwhelming confidence in the executive, pledging that the team would pilot the party’s affairs to greater heights.
He stated, “This unanimous voice affirmation is a call to duty, and we are ready to discharge our responsibility and ensure the party continues to put Edo people first, while supporting the governor to sustain his developmental strides in the state.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that has already become a model and reference point for other states across the federation. We have been handed the baton of leadership, and the race ahead is a marathon that will span the next four years.”
The Chairman of the National Congress Committee, Kabiru Ajana, said the committee was mandated to conduct elections into the 36 vacant APC executive positions in Edo State.
According to him, the exercise demonstrated unity within the party, as all 36 positions were returned unopposed after the screening process, with no appeals received.
Also speaking, Oshiomhole thanked delegates for re-electing the Tenebe-led executive, describing the exercise as seamless and symbolic of party unity in Edo State.
He said, “I thank all the delegates for a seamless exercise which symbolizes the unity of the party in Edo State. This unity makes a bold statement about the leadership of Governor Okpebholo. We celebrate the governor for the unity in the party.”
