2027 Presidential Election Major Fight Between Tinubu And Atiku – Momodu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has said the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, remains President Bola Tinubu’s biggest challenger ahead of the 2027 election.

Naija News reports that Momodu said the presidential contest would largely be between Tinubu and Atiku, describing it as a “battle of the Titans.”

He stated this in a post on 𝕏 on Monday.

The former presidential aspirant said a third force could still emerge, as happened in 2023, but may not have enough strength to displace the two major contenders.

Momodu wrote, “The 2027 Presidential election is expected to be a major fight between President Bola Tinubu and his biggest challenger, Atiku Abubakar.

“It promises to be the battle of the Titans. A third force, hopefully, may show up, like it did in 2023, but not with enough firepower and tenacity to upstage and obliterate the two elder statesmen.”

Momodu urged the ADC to change its traditional approach to politics and embrace a broader strategy.

He said the party must serve as a bridge between old and modern politics, conservative and cosmopolitan tendencies, as well as veteran politicians and technocrats.

“This is why it has become pertinent and urgent for our dear party ADC to change the traditional way of playing politics by becoming a link between the old and modern, conservative and cosmopolitan tendencies, veteran politicians and technocrats in government,” he said.

Momodu said Nigeria needed reconciliation, reorientation, and reconstruction.

He wrote, “There’s no better combination than this duo, assuring a colourful blend. The North and the South will reunite in a game of ethnic and religious rivalries.

“The present combustive tensions and absolute chaos cannot be allowed to continue. It will consume all of us; the time has come to retrace our steps and return to the days of robust ideas, ideologies and inspirational figures.”

The ADC chieftain said Nigeria had derailed from the legacies of its founding fathers, including Nnamdi Azikiwe, Ahmadu Bello and Obafemi Awolowo.

Momodu added, “Our founding fathers such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, The Sardauna Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and others, tried their best, even if they were not perfect.

“Today, we’ve completely derailed from the legacies they bequeathed to us.

“The politics of gangsterism has become unbearably malignant in our nation. This is the type of strong bridge we need between the North and the South. We must act before it is too late.”
