VIDEO: Tragedy In Abuja As NSCDC Female Officer Crushed To Death During ‘Show Of Force’
A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reportedly died following an accident during a display exercise in the Federal Capital Territory.
The tragic incident, captured in a 58-second viral video circulating on social media on Saturday, was said to have occurred during a “show of force” exercise by the Corps’ Female Strike Force, also known as the Female Squad.
The footage showed a black operational van with red wheels, bearing the inscription “Female Squad,” moving in formation, with another van marked “Female Strike Force FCT Command” trailing behind.
During a turn, the lead vehicle reportedly ran over one of the female officers, pinning her beneath the van.
The video revealed a chaotic scene as other NSCDC personnel and bystanders rushed to the spot. Several individuals were seen lifting the vehicle in an attempt to free the trapped officer before she was hurried into a waiting ambulance.
Although the Corps had yet to issue a formal press statement as of the time of filing this report, TheCable quoted the NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, as confirming the officer’s death during a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon.
The identity of the deceased officer had not been disclosed at press time.
Babawale reportedly assured that a detailed statement would be released to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The development has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing shock over the tragedy and calling for a thorough investigation into what led to the fatal accident.
