Missing Lawyer, NYSC Member Found In Abuja After Four Days

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed that a missing National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member and legal practitioner, Linda Ameh, has been found in Abuja.

The command said Ameh, who was earlier reported missing on May 6, personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to give details of the incident.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh.

Adeh said investigations had begun to apprehend those responsible for her disappearance.

The statement read, “The FCT Police Command wishes to inform the public that Ms Linda Ameh, the legal practitioner earlier reported missing on May 6 2026, has been found and personally reported to the Maitama Police Station to provide details of the incident.”

The police added that the victim was helping investigators with useful information that could lead to the arrest of those behind the incident.

The statement further read, “The Command further states that investigations are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the crime, while Ms. Ameh is assisting the Police with useful information to aid ongoing investigative efforts and ensure the perpetrators are apprehended.”

The command did not disclose where Ameh was found or the circumstances surrounding her return.

It could not be immediately confirmed whether any ransom was paid before her release.

Her suspected abductors were said to have earlier contacted her family and demanded ₦20 million for her release.

The demand had raised concerns over her safety, with relatives and colleagues calling on security agencies to act quickly.

Naija News reports that Ameh was said to have disappeared on Tuesday, May 6, shortly after closing from work at Blades and Butchers Ltd in Maitama, Abuja, around 5:40 p.m.

She was reportedly heading home to Life Camp when her phone became unreachable.

Both of her phone lines were said to have remained switched off despite repeated attempts by family members to reach her.

Her disappearance was immediately reported to the Maitama Division of the FCT Police Command and to the NYSC.

Ameh was said to have recently resumed work as a Sales Manager and was close to completing her NYSC service, including her final Community Development Service activities.

The case attracted public attention after her family reportedly informed the police that suspected abductors had reached out with a ₦20m ransom demand.

Adeh had earlier confirmed that an investigation had been launched and that police operatives were working to trace her whereabouts and establish how the incident occurred.

With her return, the police said efforts were now focused on identifying and arresting those responsible for her disappearance.
