El-Rufai Turned Kaduna Into A Muslim State – Fayose Blasts Former Governor
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has stated that the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, deserves the treatment he is getting.
He disclosed that he refused to join a protest calling for El-Rufai’s release.
Naija News reports that the former governor is being probed over an alleged ₦432 billion corruption scandal linked to his administration
Speaking via a Facebook post on Wednesday, he alleged that El-Rufai, during his administration, turned Kaduna State into a ‘Muslim state’ by marginalizing Christians.
According to him, prior to El-Rufai’s administration, his predecessors ceded the deputy governorship position to Christians but he (El-Rufai) “scattered everything”.
He also declared that he will never join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), a party housing the coalition of opposition leaders including El-Rufai.
The businessman, however, said he is a staunch supporter of the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
He said, “El-Rufai turned Kaduna into a Muslim Muslim state, the Christians became vulnerable. I’m not and will never be a member of ADC.
“I belong only to the ‘Nigerian Party’ I go for what is good for Nigerians. The only candidate I like is Peter Obi.”
Meanwhile, the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday refused to entertain the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, describing the request as premature and adjourning the matter until April 23, 2026.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik.
A lawyer who witnessed the proceedings disclosed that the court declined to allow El-Rufai’s legal team to move the bail application during Wednesday’s sitting.
“On the El-Rufai case, the court denied his counsel the right to move for his bail application just now. He stated the bail application is immature and he adjourned the case to the 23rd of April 2026 to arraign El-Rufai properly before the court,” SaharaReporters quoted the lawyer as stating.
The decision means the former governor will remain in custody pending his formal arraignment.
El-Rufai was not present in court during the proceedings as he remains in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission.
Naija News reports that some chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including Bolaji Abdullahi, were in court to observe the proceedings.
The development marks the latest twist in the escalating legal battles between the former governor and federal anti-corruption agencies
