The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed its operatives across the six area councils of the Federal Capital Territory to monitor the council elections holding today, Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The commission said the move was part of efforts to safeguard electoral integrity and curb vote buying and other forms of inducement during the polls.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, directed officers to maintain strict surveillance across all polling areas within the FCT.

He charged them to be vigilant and proactive in preventing incidents of vote buying and other electoral malpractices that could undermine the credibility of the exercise.

According to the commission, the deployment covers all six area councils in the territory.

The EFCC stated that its officers were strategically positioned across the FCT to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the electoral process.

The officers are all over the FCT safeguarding the electoral processes to ensure transparency and accountable conduct,” the statement read.
