Bukayo Saka Names Nigerian Hit As Favourite Childhood Song
Bukayo Saka has offered fans a glimpse into his upbringing, revealing that the Nigerian hip-hop classic ‘Oleku’ soundtracked his childhood.
The Arsenal winger made the admission during a recent chat with actor Daniel Kaluuya, surprising many supporters who know him primarily for his exploits on the pitch.
“When I was young, my favorite Nigerian song is ‘Oleku’ by Ice Prince and Brymo. The song is a banger. Go listen to it,” he said.
The track, Oleku, was released by Nigerian rapper Ice Prince and features vocals from Brymo. It became one of the defining Afrobeats anthems of the early 2010s and remains popular across Nigeria and the diaspora.
Naija News reports that Saka’s revelation comes on the back of significant news in his professional career. The 24-year-old recently signed a new long term contract with Arsenal, extending his stay in north London until 2031. His previous deal had been set to run until June 2027.
Shortly after putting pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates Stadium, Bukayo Saka posed for photographs alongside his British Nigerian fiancée, Tolami Benson, and their dogs.
Although he represents the England national football team rather than the Super Eagles, Saka has consistently embraced his Nigerian heritage, supporting charitable initiatives in the West African nation.
