FRSC Sacks 43 Officers Over Misconduct

The Federal Road Safety Corps has sacked 43 of its personnel from service over various offences, including desertion, improper conduct, and violations linked to patrol duties.

Naija News reports that the decision was made public in Abuja on Thursday through a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.

According to the statement, 31 officers were dismissed for abandoning their duty posts, five were removed for acts described as scandalous, while seven lost their jobs over misconduct connected to patrol operations.

The Corps explained that the action reflects its commitment to discipline within the organisation.

It stated that wearing the FRSC uniform comes with responsibility and that any officer who goes against its rules will face strict consequences under its internal system.

The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, said the removal of the affected officers shows the agency’s firm stand against indiscipline and unethical acts.

He said the FRSC operates as a professional paramilitary body with clear rules and expectations, adding that it will not tolerate behaviour that can damage public trust or weaken its mission.

Mohammed described desertion as a serious violation, especially for an agency responsible for road safety across the country.

He said officers are expected to remain committed to their duties, as the work of the Corps involves protecting the lives of road users every day.

He also noted that improper conduct and patrol-related offences affect the image of the agency and go against its values of discipline and transparency. He maintained that such behaviour cannot be accepted within the system.
