‘Tinubu’s Wolves Went After Me’ – El-Rufai Dismisses Interest In Political Godfatherism

The immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that some supporters of President Bola Tinubu attacked him over his comment about political godfatherism.

Naija News reports that El-Rufai made this known on Monday in an interview on Trust TV, stating that he has no close relationship with his successor, Governor Uba Sani.

El-Rufai emphasised that Sani is not his godson and that he is not interested in being a godfather, as he has been an outspoken opponent of the practice.

According to El-Rufai, he does not care about his successor, adding that some of Tinubu‘s supporters attacked him following his remark about godfatherism at a Lagos State event.

He said, “Governor Uba Sani is not my godson. I don’t care about my successor.

“I’ve not called Uba Sani since I left office as governor. I have no relationship with him.

“I’m not interested in being a godfather. I have never believed in godfatherism. Never. I have been outspoken opponent of it.

“I didn’t go to Lagos and answer questions about godfatherism that led to attacks from the nation.

“The Tinubu’s wolves went after me because they thought I was talking about him. But I was talking about a principle. When you have power, exercise it for public good and when you are done, leave.”
