Atiku, Makinde Hold Closed-door Meeting With Babangida
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday, visited a former military president of the country, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), in Minna, Niger State.
Naija News understands Atiku arrived at the hilltop residence of the former Military President a few minutes after 1 pm, and immediately went into a closed-door session.
Also, about 40 minutes later, Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, joined the meeting.
While the details of the meeting are yet to be made public, it is understood that the discussions focus on electoral reforms as regards the e-transmission of election results, new tax laws and other issues.
In other news, the factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, on Tuesday, along with Governors Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, were physically present at the Court of Appeal in Abuja over a case on the leadership tussle within the party.
Naija News reports that other members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) were also in court for the scheduled hearing regarding the party’s leadership status.
The case before the appeal court is a testament to the long leadership battle in the PDP, which has pitched the Makinde faction against the camp loyal to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
