Terence Crawford Retires At 38 After Historic, Unbeaten Boxing Career

American boxing icon Terence Crawford has announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 38, bringing the curtain down on one of the most remarkable careers of the modern era.

Terence Crawford steps away with a flawless 42-0 professional record and the unique distinction of being the only fighter in the four-belt era to become an undisputed champion in three different weight divisions.

The five-weight world champion leaves boxing with his legacy firmly intact and his place among the all-time greats secure.

The decision comes just three months after his defining win over Canelo Alvarez, when Crawford produced a commanding performance to claim the undisputed super-middleweight titles at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

That night sealed his unprecedented three-division undisputed achievement and marked what many saw as the peak of an already glittering career.

Announcing his decision on social media on Tuesday, Crawford struck a reflective tone as he shared a video chronicling his journey in the ring.

“Walking away as a great with nothing else left to prove,” he wrote alongside the footage.

In the video, Crawford offered a deeper insight into his decision to retire. “Every fighter knows this moment would come,” he said. “You just never know when.

“I’m stepping away from competition, not because I’m done fighting, but because I’ve won a different type of battle. The one where you walk away on your own terms.

“This sport gave me everything. I fought for my family. I fought for the city. I fought for the kid I used to be, the one who had nothing but a dream and a pair of gloves, and I did it all my way. I’ve made peace with what’s next. It’s time.”

Throughout his career, Crawford built a reputation as one of boxing’s most complete fighters, combining technical precision with ruthless finishing ability.

Among his standout victories were stoppage wins over Shawn Porter, Amir Khan and Kell Brook, all former world champions.

His retirement follows a turbulent few weeks outside the ring, after he was stripped of the super-middleweight title by the World Boxing Council earlier this month due to his failure to pay a mandatory sanctioning fee.

The development, however, did little to overshadow his achievements.
