1. President Tinubu Upset, Takes Action On ₦4 Trillion Debt To Federal Contractors

President Bola Tinubu has set up a high-level committee to resolve the issues around the federal government debt of about ₦4 trillion owed to federal contractors.

This is as the President declared that he is not happy about the situation.

The position of President Tinubu was made known on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, while addressing newsmen after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.

According to Onanuga, the DG (Director-General) of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr Adebowale Adedokun, told the President that about 2000 contractors are being owed money, and this made the President very, very upset.

To this end, Tinubu set up a committee to look into the situation and proffer a solution.

Onanuga added that following the briefing to the council by the Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, President Tinubu directed the committee to look into the problem and recommend how the debts can be settled.

2. Fuel Price Drops As NNPCL, Others Slash Petrol Rates

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and several independent marketers have once again reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at retail outlets across Abuja.

According to Daily Post, NNPCL’s filling stations in the nation’s capital have reduced petrol prices to ₦915 per litre, down from ₦920, marking a ₦5 reduction.

Independent marketers, including BOVAS and MRS, are also adjusting their rates, with some now selling at ₦910 per litre, a notable drop from earlier prices of up to ₦945.

Other filling stations such as AYM Shafa, NIPCO, Optima, Mobil, Ranoil, and Empire now dispense petrol at prices ranging between ₦920 and ₦937 per litre, depending on the location and depot supply dynamics.

This latest adjustment by NNPCL follows two successive price cuts over the past fortnight, bringing the price to ₦945 per litre, down ₦30 from ₦ 975 per litre.

3. Details Of Tinubu’s Meeting With Oyetola, Uzodinma, Akume, Osun APC Governorship Aspirants

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and governorship aspirants in Osun state and appealed for unity and consensus-building ahead of the party’s primary on December 13.

The President met with the aspirants at the State House, Abuja, on Monday night.

Naija News reports that Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement on Wednesday.

The Osun State governorship aspirants who attended the meeting with the President include former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

Also in attendance at the meeting were the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Chairman of the Progressive Governors, Hope Uzodimma; and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

President Tinubu, who praised all the aspirants for their contributions to the APC in Osun State, urged them to close ranks and support the consensus candidate the party will present for the governorship election in the state.

He also advised them to avoid the internal bickering and disunity that caused the party to lose the last election in the state to the Peoples Democratic Party.

While harping on the importance of party supremacy, President Tinubu charged the aspirants to allow it to prevail in choosing the flagbearer, noting that only the party can benefit from it when it wins elections.

4. Tinubu Orders Ministers To Get Presidential Clearance For Police Escorts

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday in Abuja said the directive to redeploy police officers working with VIPs, VVIPs and ministers was not negotiable, admonishing all ministers to ensure immediate compliance.

Speaking at the opening of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in the State House Council Chamber, the President warned against non-compliance.

“If you have any problem because of the nature of your assignments, please contact the IGP and get my clearance,” he said.

President Tinubu directed the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Police Affairs, Sen Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egebtokun, to follow up on the implementation of the order.

The President noted that police officers were trained to protect the lives and property of citizens, particularly the most vulnerable in society, and the protection of a select group of VIPs and VVIPs was not their responsibility.

President Tinubu said the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, will make arrangements for the replacement of police officers by the Civil Defence Corps.

5. Tinubu Gives Shettima Assignment On Ranch Initiative

President Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to spearhead efforts through the National Economic Council (NEC) to identify and rehabilitate grazing reserves nationwide for conversion into ranches.

The President said the move was crucial to ending recurring conflicts between farmers and herders and to unlocking economic value in Nigeria’s livestock sector.

Speaking during the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja, Tinubu tasked the NEC with exploring viable grazing reserves in various states that could be converted into livestock settlements.

The President emphasised that the longstanding herder-farmer clashes must be addressed with practical solutions that also yield economic returns.

“We must eliminate the possibility of conflicts and turn the livestock reform into economically viable development. The opportunity is there. Let’s utilise it,” he stated.

Tinubu further noted that since land belongs to the states, the NEC must work within the constitutional framework to secure willing states for the conversion process.

6. ‘Buhari Will Give Account On Judgement Day’ – IMN Leader, El-Zakzaky Breaks Silence On Zaria Massacre

Ten years after the violent confrontation between soldiers and members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) in Zaria, the group’s leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, says former President Muhammadu Buhari will give an account on the Day of Judgement.

The 2015 incident, which began as a confrontation over a blocked road, escalated into one of the most controversial security operations in Nigeria’s recent history, ultimately leading to the proscription of the IMN.

Naija News recalls that trouble started when IMN members blocked the convoy of the then Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, who was on his way to a passing-out parade in Zaria, Kaduna State.

What began as a disagreement quickly spiralled into chaos as soldiers forcefully dispersed the worshippers, who fought back.

In the days that followed, the military launched further operations targeting the sect.

According to Human Rights Watch, about 300 IMN members were killed and secretly buried, while a state-backed judicial commission of inquiry later reported over 1,000 civilian deaths, mostly IMN followers.

El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, were arrested after the clash and remained in detention until 2021, when a Kaduna State High Court discharged and acquitted them.

Speaking at a press conference to mark a decade since the incident, El-Zakzaky criticised the Buhari administration and succeeding governments for failing to act on the inquiry report.

He recalled that the judicial commission submitted its report on September 7, 2016, yet the government took no action.

Asked whether he had forgiven Buhari, El-Zakzaky was blunt.

“As for Buhari, it’s simple. He has passed away. We will meet on the Day of Judgement,” he said.

7. I’m Traumatized With That Institution – Regina Daniels Vows Never To Remarry

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has revealed that she has no plans to remarry after her difficult separation from billionaire husband Ned Nwoko.

Naija News reports that the actress opened up while responding to a question from a fan about whether she would consider marrying again, especially to someone closer to her age.

In her response, Regina Daniels explained that the experience left her deeply hurt and unwilling to enter another marriage, saying she feels traumatized by the institution.

The netizen asked: “Will you consider marrying another man and will be your age”

She wrote: “Nopeee traumatized with that institution”

Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko tied the knot in 2019 and had two children together.

Their marriage, however, became the subject of intense public scrutiny due to a series of controversies that unfolded over the years.

8. Newly Elected Actors Guild Of Nigeria President Abubakar Yakubu Arrested

The newly elected President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Abubakar Yakubu, has reportedly been involved in a fatal auto crash in Surulere, Lagos.

Recall that Yakubu narrowly defeated Rita Daniels, mother of Regina Daniels, by 116 votes to 113, with three votes declared invalid.

According to preliminary information, the incident resulted in the death of an individual.

Sahara Reporters reports that Yakubu has been taken into police custody at the Barracks Police Station in the Surulere area of Lagos, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident continue.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement detailing the cause of the crash or the outcome of ongoing inquiries.

9. Tijani Babangida Warns Chelle Against Dependence On Osimhen Ahead Of AFCON 2025

Former Nigeria winger Tijani Babangida has urged Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle to break what he describes as a “dangerous” dependency on Victor Osimhen as the push for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title gathers pace.

Babangida, speaking to Tribal Football, said the national team’s growing habit of placing its hopes on one player is risky, especially with AFCON 2025 fast approaching.

Osimhen’s influence on the side is no secret. The Galatasaray forward has scored 31 goals in 43 games for Nigeria, placing him just six shy of the legendary Rashidi Yekini.

Yet Babangida believes the team’s record with and without the striker highlights the problem. With him fit, Nigeria have lost five of their last 40 matches. Without him, they have suffered 11 defeats in 29 games and managed just nine wins.

10. Alex Iwobi Ranked Fifth Most Creative Player In Premier League This Season

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has been named among the Premier League’s most inventive players this season, securing fifth place in a new creativity ranking released by statistics platform WhoScored.

Alex Iwobi has created 23 chances for Fulham so far, making him the club’s most productive player in the final third. Only four players across the entire league sit above him.

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes leads the list with 40 key passes, followed by Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai with 28. Arsenal’s Declan Rice ranks third on 27, while Nottingham Forest youngster Elliot Anderson is just ahead of Iwobi on 25.

Iwobi’s sharpness in possession has translated into direct contributions in front of goal. He has scored two goals and provided two assists in 15 league matches this term. His influence at Craven Cottage has grown steadily since his €25.7 million transfer from Everton two years ago, and he is now widely regarded as a core figure under Marco Silva.

Last season marked the best of his Premier League career, ending with nine goals and six assists in Fulham colours. His confidence and maturity have continued into the current campaign, and he is expected to play a leading role once again for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
