PDP Chieftain, Austin Okai Joins ADC
A former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Austin Okai, has officially dumped the party and pitched his tent with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Naija News reports that Okai’s defection, confirmed on Monday (today), adds to the growing list of political realignments in Kogi State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Confirming his latest political move to Daily Post, Okai, a vocal socio-political commentator, said his decision was long overdue due to what he described as the “protracted leadership crisis” that continues to plague the party both nationally and in Kogi State.
“I have resigned my membership of the PDP. I am now a member of the ADC,” Okai said plainly.
Prior to his exit, Okai was one of the party’s most visible image makers, frequently representing the PDP on television, in newspapers, and across social media platforms.
His defection coincided with a large wave of new entrants into the ADC, following a formal unveiling of the party’s structure in the Kogi West Senatorial District over the weekend.
The event, which drew political observers and loyalists, was headlined by former senator and PDP stalwart, Dino Melaye, who described the ADC as “the only viable alternative” for Nigerians seeking true change.
At the ADC unveiling, Senator Dino Melaye lambasted the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of plunging the country into economic misery.
“There is massive hunger and starvation across Nigeria. The APC has failed the people and is out of touch with the everyday realities of Nigerians,” Melaye declared.
He urged disillusioned politicians and voters to rally around the ADC, saying the party would restore dignity, accountability, and purpose to governance.
