President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn-in General Christopher Musa (Rtd) as the new Minister of Defence.

Naija News reports that the retired general took his oath of office as Nigeria’s new Defence Minister on Thursday, at the Presidential Villa.

This was disclosed in a post on social media by President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

In attendance are Justice Kumai Bayang Akaahs (rtd), Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, Mrs Lillian Oghogho Musa, President Bola Tinubu, Minister of Defence Gen Christopher Musa (rtd), Senate President Godswill Akpabio, National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah.

Naija News recalls that the Senate on Wednesday confirmed General Christopher Musa (rtd) as the new Minister of Defence for Nigeria.

Musa was confirmed by the lawmakers after about five hours of grilling, questioning and interrogations by members of the upper legislative chamber.

It would be recalled that President Tinubu had nominated Musa for appointment as a replacement for Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, who resigned from the position based on health grounds.

During his screening, Musa pledged to carry out a zero-tolerance policy on banditry and terrorism once he assumes office.

He assured Senators that he would deploy firm and decisive strategies to confront the country’s security threats.
