Anthony Joshua Promises To Punish Jake Paul In Heated Build-Up To Miami Fight
Former unified heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, has issued a blunt warning to Jake Paul ahead of their December showdown in Miami, insisting he plans to overpower the American from the first bell and leave him with a long night to remember.
Anthony Joshua, who goes into the contest as a strong favourite with bookmakers, made his intentions clear during a lively press engagement. The bout, scheduled for eight rounds, will be streamed globally on Netflix.
Joshua said, “I’m going to break his face. I am going to break his body up. I’m going to stomp all over him. That’s my fighter’s mentality.”
He added that he intends to drag Paul into territory he has never experienced. He said: “I’m going to come forward, impose myself, land heavy punches and expose him to certain tricks in boxing that he may not have seen yet. I am going to bring him to another school of boxing that I don’t think he’s been exposed to yet.”
Despite the tough talk, Joshua was surprisingly complimentary about Paul’s mindset and effort in training. “I see talent, focus, he puts in the work, has a good team, nothing negative. I take it seriously. He has a conqueror’s mentality. His mentality is solid,” he admitted.
Joshua steps into the ring with 28 wins and four defeats, with 25 of those victories coming by knockout.
Naija News reports that AJ’s form in recent years has been uneven, and he has not fought since suffering a punishing fifth-round stoppage at the hands of Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
Paul arrives with a 12-1 record and seven knockouts, though this will be the toughest opponent he has faced so far.
Looking past Miami, Joshua expects to be back in action in February, with the possibility of a long-awaited meeting with Tyson Fury later in 2026 if everything goes to plan.
