Ex-Chelsea Star, Oscar Hospitalized After Heart Irregularity Found During Sao Paulo Medical
Former Chelsea and Brazilian midfielder Oscar has been taken to the hospital after Sao Paulo doctors discovered a heart irregularity during routine medical checks on Tuesday.
Oscar, 33, who recently joined the club ahead of the 2026 season, was undergoing examinations at the SuperCT training complex when the issue was detected.
Medical staff from Sao Paulo and specialists from the Israelita Einstein Hospital, who were present at the facility, acted immediately to attend to him.
In a statement released by the club, Sao Paulo confirmed the incident and assured fans that the former Chelsea star is stable.
“During examinations conducted this Tuesday morning (11) at SuperCT, as part of the preparation for the 2026 pre-season, athlete Oscar experienced an incident with cardiac changes and was promptly attended to by the club’s professionals and the medical team from the Israelita Einstein Hospital, which was present on site,” the statement read.
“Subsequently, the player was taken to the hospital, where he is clinically stable and remains under observation for the performance of additional tests for diagnostic clarification,” it added.
Sao Paulo also stated that updates on the player’s condition will be shared once further tests are completed and with his consent.
Oscar, who rose to prominence with Chelsea between 2012 and 2017 before a lucrative spell in China with Shanghai Port, returned to Brazil earlier this year to join the Sao Paulo squad.
