Arokodare Scores First Wolves Goal, Gets Praise From Coach

Tolu Arokodare needed only twenty minutes on the pitch to make his mark for Wolverhampton Wanderers, scoring his first goal for the club in a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Everton on Tuesday night, September 23.

Naija News reports that Tolu Arokodare, 23, joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk on deadline day. He came off the bench in the 68th minute with Wolves holding a narrow lead from Marshall Munetsi’s first-half strike.

Just when Everton threatened to fight back, Arokodare killed the contest in the 88th minute, slipping a low finish past the goalkeeper after a clever through ball from Joao Gomes.

The goal sparked loud cheers inside Molineux and earned glowing praise from head coach Vitor Pereira, who believes the striker is settling quickly into life in England. “Tolu has settled in really well since arriving and tonight’s goal will give him confidence,” Pereira told the club’s official website. “It’s always good for a striker to get off the mark early.”

For Arokodare, the moment was more than just a debut goal; it was a statement that he is ready to compete for a starting role in the Premier League. His sharp movement and composure in front of the goal showed exactly why Wolves were keen to bring him in.

Elsewhere in the competition, another Nigerian talent, Samuel Chukwueze, made his first appearance for Fulham after joining on loan from AC Milan. The winger came on for Adama Traore in the 60th minute as Fulham edged past Cambridge United 1-0, thanks to Emile Smith-Rowe’s decisive strike.
