NPFL Updates: Abia Warriors Lose Four Players, Nasarawa United Beg For Support
Abia Warriors will be without four key players, Nicholas Jonathan, Hameed Yakubu, Izuchukwu Olewunne, and Izuchukwu Daniel, for their upcoming NPFL match against Sunshine Stars on Sunday, September 22.
Jonathan and Yakubu are sidelined due to minor injuries, while Olewunne and Daniel are both dealing with groin problems and illness.
The side, based in Umuahia, are determined to secure a win after being winless in their last two matches, including a 2-1 defeat in the same fixture last season.
Nasarawa United Confident Of Win
Nasarawa United’s technical director, Kabiru Dogo, is confident about a positive outcome in their match against El-Kanemi Warriors.
Despite the loss of key player Umar Ibrahim to injury, Dogo expressed his team’s determination to secure maximum points in their upcoming NPFL fixture at Lafia City Stadium at 4 p.m. later today, September 21.
“I am very sure we will pick the maximum points on Saturday (today)”, the coach said.
“We lost our first three points at home here against Shooting Stars, and you are aware of what happened in Minna against Niger Tornadoes.
“We can’t afford to lose another point again; We are approaching the game with vigor, enthusiasm, and hunger for an outright win, regardless.
“We lost one of our key players, Umar Ibrahim, to an injury he sustained during our match in Minna last weekend.
“We pray he recovers on time to join the squad. Nonetheless, we are equal to the task.
“The supporters and fans must be rewarded for their support and solidarity with us.”
Meanwhile, Nasarawa United have called for the support of their fans and supporters as they aim for their first victory of the season.
“As we prepare to host our regional rivals, El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri, we need your energy and support, as usual, to drive us to our first VICTORY this campaign!” Nasarawa United wrote on X.
“We call on all our dedicated and committed fans to come out en masse to cheer us on at our home ground, the Lafia City Stadium.”
