Nigeria Has Been Mismanaged - Moghalu Laments

Following the battery of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, Joe Ajaero, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has accused Nigerian politicians of abusing power.

Making this allegation in a tweet on Thursday, the former apex bank deputy governor warned that Nigerian politicians’ actions are not enabling the environment for the growth of businesses in the country.

He argued that the country could not attract game-changing investment with such developments.

“Political leaders instigated the vicious beating of @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero on partisan political grounds. This is condemnable. Now that the labour movement has responded and grounded economic activities, some are uncomfortable. Let’s pull back from abuse of poweras deployed for partisan politics in our country,” he wrote.

“This is NOT an enabling environment for the growth of business and the economy. We should not delude ourselves that we can attract game-changing investment in our country in this kind of environment. Let’s first do the work at home by creating the enabling environment, which includes putting the economy and our broader national interest ahead of partisan excesses,” he added.

His comment comes a few hours after the NLC called off its two-day strike.

Naija News recalls that the labour union had embarked on an indefinite strike over the treatment meted on its leader in Imo state. The union is demanding that those responsible for the brutalization of Ajaero be brought to book.
