Tragedy As LAUTECH Final Year Students Die In Fatal Accident

Some 500-level Accounting students of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso, Oyo State, died in a fatal accident Wednesday evening.

Naija News learnt that the students were returning from an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall in Osun State when their vehicle suddenly caught fire around Ilobu-Okinni-Osogbo road in Osun.

Confirming the tragic incident, the school Public Relations Officer, Lekan Fadeyi, told the Nigerian Tribune that lives were lost in the accident but could not verify the numbers as he is yet to receive more information on the incident.

He said, “I can confirm to you that there was an accident while some students passed on, but I have not gotten the details of their identities.”

Also, the Students’ Union President of the institution, Anuoluwa Adeboye, while speaking on the incident, said the students organised an excursion to Erin-Ijesa Waterfall after their first-semester exam as part of their activities as final-year students.

One Feared Dead In Ghastly Road Accident In Ogun

Meanwhile, one person has been confirmed dead, while 14 others were severely injured in a road crash involving two vehicles along Long Bridge by Hogan Guard Area of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to an eyewitness quoted by Punch, the crash occurred when a tyre of a Volkswagen minibus with registration number LSF264YD conveying passengers, pulled out in motion leading to a crash with a Toyota Camry car.

It was gathered that the Volkswagen bus was coming from the Mowe axis of Ogun State before the pulled out in motion. This led to the collision with the Camry vehicle with registration number SMK191FK.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident.
