One Feared Dead In Ghastly Road Accident In Ogun

One person has been confirmed dead while 14 others were severely injured in a road crash involving two vehicles along Long Bridge by Hogan Guard Area of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to an eyewitness quoted by Punch, the crash occurred when a tyre of a Volkswagen minibus with registration number LSF264YD conveying passengers, pulled out in motion leading to a crash with a Toyota Camry car.

It was gathered that the Volkswagen bus was coming from the Mowe axis of Ogun State before the pulled out in motion. This led to the collision with the Camry vehicle with registration number SMK191FK.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident.

She identified the cause of the accident as tyre pull-out in motion

She said, “I can confirm the accident which happened at about 06:50hrs on Tuesday. Two vehicles were involved, a Volkswagen mini bus with registration number LSF264YD and a Toyota Camry car with registration number SMK191FK. The cause of the accident was that the tyre of the Volkswagen bus pulled out in motion and it collided with the Camry car which resulted in the death of one person while 14 people were injured. A total of 16 people were involved.”

Okpe noted that injured persons were taken to the Accident Emergency Hospital in the Ojota area of Lagos state while the remains of the dead person were deposited at Divine Touch Hospital morgue.
