Ben Murray-Bruce Reacts As Senate Confirms Cardoso As CBN Governor

Former Bayelsa East Senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, has congratulated Dr. Olayemi Cardoso on his confirmation as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) by the Senate.

Naija News reported that the Senate, under the leadership of Godswill Akpabio, has confirmed the nomination of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso as the Governor of the apex bank.

Cardoso was screened alongside four nominees for the positions of CBN Deputy Governors to steer the affairs of the apex bank for the next five years.

The deputy governors include Emem Nnana Usoro, Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

Recall that last week, Cardoso resumed as the CBN governor in an acting capacity pending his screening and expected confirmation by the Senate.

However, in a post via his X handle on Tuesday, Murray-Bruce said the confirmation of Cardoso is a monumental era which beckons and signals transformative change for the nation.

The former Senator also congratulated Cardoso and the new CBN Deputy Governors on their confirmation by the Senate, saying that their leadership promises a brighter, more accountable future.

He wrote: “Congratulations to Dr. Olayemi Cardoso on his confirmation as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). A monumental era beckons, signalling transformative change for our nation. Congratulations also to the four esteemed Deputy Governors: Mrs Emem Nnana Usoro, Mr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi Dattijo, Mr. Philip Ikeazor, and Dr. Bala M. Bello.

“Together, your leadership promises a brighter, more accountable future. A great era is about to begin, and it will not be business as usual for rent-seekers. Best wishes as you steer the apex bank towards progress in the next five years.”
