Oba of Benin, Ewuare ll Storms Daura To Visit Buhari (Photos)

Former President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday hosted Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, at his residence in Daura, Katsina state.

During the visit, Buhari accompanied the monarch to the palace of Umar Farouq Umar, the Emir of Daura.

The former president also presented a royal horse to the Benin monarch.

Sharing photos from the visit, a former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, via the microblogging platform, X formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “After Oba of Benin, Ewuare II concluded his visit to His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari in his hometown, Daura, the former Leader offered to respectfully accompany the esteemed traditional leader to the Umar Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina to bid him farewell.”

Since his return to Daura, his home town, on May 29 after the completion of his terms as president of Nigeria, Buhari has continued to receive dignitaries at his residence.

Buhari Appoints Benin Monarch Bayero Varsity

It would be recalled Buhari (retd.), recently appointed the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, as the fourth Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano.

The former President, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, performed the installation on Saturday at the 36th and 37th combined convocation of the university, where 16,581 students bagged various degrees.

“There is no doubt that Bayero University is indeed lucky to have the Oba as its chancellor. He is a man of great experience and a seasoned diplomat,” Buhari said. “I officially congratulate His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin, on your well-deserved appointment as the Chancellor of Bayero University.”
