Popular Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, has said that comedy wasn’t his first passion.

Basketmouth, during a recent interview with Thisday Newspaper’s weekend style magazine, said he wanted to be a rapper.

The comedian made this known whilst sharing some insights on his journey into becoming a comedian.

During the interview, Bright noted that growing up, he never knew he was funny because he was usually in a clique of hilarious friends, until one day he realized that he was a very gifted comic.

He said even though he was passionate about rap and was at a crossroads to either pursue comedy as a career or be a rapper, he had to appreciate and embraced his comic gift.

The popular comic also revealed that his parents never dissuaded him when he decided he wanted to be a comedian during his formative years.

He said they gave him just one major condition, which was for him to finish school and be a graduate.
