Accountant General Of Federation Accused Of Age Falsification, Corruption

The Accountant General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, reassured on Tuesday that July 2023 salaries for civil servants will not be delayed.

The promise comes in the wake of previous delays in the payment of May and June 2023 salaries.

Madein clarified the situation during a conversation with journalists in Abuja.

She explained that the previous delays were due to unforeseen difficulties outside the control of the Office of the Accountant General.

Nevertheless, she assured that measures have been taken to ensure punctual salary payments in the future.

“For May and June, we encountered some difficulties beyond our control. However, I can assure you that everything has been put in place to ensure that July 2023 salaries are not delayed and will be paid any moment from now,” said Madein.

Also present at the discussion was the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, who reassured that civil servants would soon have a reason to smile.

This comment was made in response to inquiries about plans to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on civil servants.

Yemi-Esan noted that a government committee is currently considering measures such as transportation allowances to mitigate the impact.
