Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has completed his move to French Ligue 1 club, Olympique Marseille.

The 34-year-old Gabonese international has signed a three-year deal with the Ligue 1 giants which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2026.

Last summer, Aubameyang left FC Barcelona for Chelsea about 6 months after he joined the Spanish giants from Arsenal.

Unfortunately, the coach that lured him to Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel, was sacked by the club barely two months after his arrival and Tuchel’s successor, Graham Potter didn’t deem him good enough for regular game time.

After an abysmal season at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea allowed him to leave for free this summer, about a season after he joined the club for a €12 million transfer fee.

Amidst Interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, Aubameyang decided to join Olympique Marseille since he still hunger for top-flight football.

Minutes after Olympique Marseille confirmed his signing, Chelsea released a four-paragraph statement to announce his departure from the West London club.

The club’s statement read: “Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left Chelsea and joined Ligue 1 side Marseille.

“The Gabon international arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer from Barcelona and went on to make 21 appearances in all competitions for the Blues.

“He scored three goals for Chelsea, all of which came in the space of ten days in October. Aubameyang struck against Crystal Palace in the Premier League and converted in back-to-back Champions League group stage matches against AC Milan.

“We would like to thank Pierre and wish him well as he begins the next chapter of his career.”
