Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has agreed to join French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille barely a year after he joined Chelsea from FC Barcelona.

After Aubameyang had a fallout with Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta, his contract with North London club was terminated on mutual grounds, and joined FC Barcelona on January 31, 2022.

Due to irregular game time at Barca, the 34-year-old Gabonese striker decided to reunite with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea, years after they both worked together at Borussia Dortmund.

Unfortunately for him, Tuchel was sacked months after his arrival, and coach Graham Potter didn’t count him good enough to play regularly.

From that point, it was clear that Aubameyang’s €12 million arrival at Chelsea on September 1, 2022, won’t last for too long.

According to Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Aubameyang has agreed to join Marseille this summer.

The Gabonese international is expected to sign three years deal with the French Ligue 1 club which will keep him at the club until June 30, 2026.

Even though Aubameyang has until June 30, 2024, before his current contract with Chelsea expires, the West London side have permitted him to leave the club for free.

Hence, the one time African player of the year is expected to undergo his medical tests at Marseille on Thursday, July 20, after which he would put pen to paper for the three seasons deal.
