The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has been declared the winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Plateau State.

Naija News reports Obi defeated his closest rivals, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar, of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to win the election.

The State Collation Officer, Professor Shehu Abdulrahman, while giving the summary of the result, said the LP candidate scored 466,272 votes, the PDP candidate scored 243,808 and the APC candidate scored 307, 195.

Peter Obi Overtakes Tinubu In Rivers State

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has opened up a lead in Rivers State as more results of the February 25 presidential election trickle in.

Naija News reports Peter Obi massively won the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area with a wide margin to overtake the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu.

In the result declared on Monday, Obi polled 62,451 votes to win the council while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar got 7,303 votes and the APC got 5,562.

With the Port Harcourt result, Obi who had won in only five local government areas, overtook Tinubu on total votes as the APC candidate maintained his win in 12 local government areas but with fewer total votes compared to his LP counterpart.

On the overall, Obi has so far polled 163, 033 votes to lead Tinubu, who polled 140,262, and Atiku trails in third position with 82,109.
