CAN Reacts As Gunmen Kill Pastor, Kidnap Church Members

Politicians and church leaders in the country have been urged to watch their utterances ahead of the general election which is barely a month away.

Naija News reports that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has come out to admonish politicians and church leaders to act responsibly as they work towards the polls because there is life after the election.

CAN in its new year message to Nigerians signed by the group’s President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, alleged that there were unconscionable attempts by criminal elements to trample upon the Nigerians and their freedom, therefore church leaders especially must be mindful of their words because there is life after the election.

According to the organisation, “Our politicians should realize that we don’t have any other country but Nigeria. Consequently, this reality should inspire them to be more responsible in playing politics with the best interest of the masses at heart.

“In the same vein, religious leaders should know that there is life after the general elections of 2023.”

The CAN president who appreciated God for making Nigeria survive the Year 2022, noted that it was only God who held the citizens by the hand and walked them through the dangers and threats of the Year 2022.

Okoh also bemoaned how the consistent fall in the national economy was another issue that created so much tension in the country.

He advanced that “The outgone the year 2022 was one too many as a result of the seeming unabated climate of fear and uncertainty not just in Nigeria.”

The apex Christian organisation told Nigerians that 2023 presents them with a golden opportunity to make things right by choosing leaders with focus and compassion who will lead the country to greatness.

The CAN boss as well called on security agencies in the country not to relent in their efforts to guarantee the safety and security of the country during the conduct of the general elections in 2023.
