The manager of Aston Villa, Unai Emery will have a word with his goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez over his antics against France and PSG striker, Kylian Mbappe.

Emiliano Martinez, who played a crucial role in Argentina’s triumph over France in the Qatar World Cup final penalty shootout, was recently seen in Buenos Aires holding a doll with Mbappe’s face attached to it as part of the victory celebrations.

After the World Cup final in Qatar, he even reportedly requested a phony minute of silence for Mbappe in the locker room.

Hence, despite helping Argentina win their first World Cup since 1986, Martinez has received plenty of criticism for his outrageous celebrations.

In line with that, Argentinean FA president Claudio Tapia received a letter from French FA president Noel Le Graet demanding he takes action against the World Cup-winning goalie.

In a pre-match press conference ahead of the Aston Villa vs Liverpool Premier League clash scheduled to kick off at 18:30 on Monday, December 26, Unai Emery had to comment on the ongoing saga.

While praising the Aston Villa goalkeeper for helping Argentina win the 2022 World Cup, Emery stressed that he and Martinez will discuss the saga when the goalkeeper returns to the club.

“When you have a big emotion, sometimes it’s difficult to control it,” Emery said on Friday.

“I will speak to him next week about some of the celebrations but I respect it for now because he’s with his national team.

“When he’s back with us we can speak about it.”
