Lionel Messi celebrated achieving his World Cup dream on Sunday in Qatar as Argentina beat France to lift the trophy for the third time.

The forward, who picked up the Golden Ball award as the best player of the tournament, celebrated the World Cup victory with his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, and three children, Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro.

The family had been watching from the stands cheering for Messi throughout the historic game which ended 4-2 for Argentina.

Once the family had reached Messi, they took a photo together – his wife beamed as she held the phone.

While the team’s win has been vital in silencing some debate about Messi being the best soccer player ever, it also held great importance to his family.

The win comes after Messi received a letter of encouragement from his 10-year-old son, Thiago, ahead of the game.

Despite Messi’s football successes, he is known to be quite the family man with a ‘normal life’, kicking about with his sons in the back garden and enjoying BBQs.

All three of Messi’s sons attend a private international school in Paris after Messi signed a two-year deal with football club Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.

The couple welcomed their first child, Thiago, in 2012, while Mateo and Ciro came later in 2015 and 2018 respectively.
