Why Erling Haaland Will Not Feature Against Sevilla – Pep Guardiola

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has revealed that Erling Haaland will not feature for his team in the Champions league clash against Sevilla.

The Citizens, who have secured the last 16 tickets were without the forward in their Premier League victory against Leicester City after picking a knock against Dortmund.

Guardiola’s men held on to grab a 1-0 hard-fought victory against the foxes without the Norwegian striker thanks to an early free-kick by Kelvin De Bruyne.

The Spaniard boss admitted that the 22-year-old forward is feeling better, but states that he would not risk him against their Spanish opponents.

“He feels better. Comparing to Saturday, Sunday, Monday, every day feels better.

“Still not 100%, we don’t want to take a risk. Hopefully, we have him against Fulham,” he said.

Pep says he would check to see whether the striker, who has scored 22 goals in 16 games for the Blue outfit, will be available or offer someone who hasn’t played for the squad an opportunity to show what they can do.

“I will have to see from the training sessions but of course, there are four days, the recovery time is different to three.

“But of course, the players who don’t play as regularly are going to play, for sure.” he added.
