The Edo Sate Commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Okojie Newton, has been sacked by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Naija News reports that the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, made this known in a statement on Monday in Benin City, the state capital.

The statement said Newton was sacked for underperformance, stating that the Obaseki government has not been able to make the envisaged progress in road infrastructure particularly in the last 12months.

It said the governor thanked Newton for his service to the state and wished him well in his future endeavours.
