Former Nigerian Striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has recently made it clear that he owes no one an apology for the goal he missed during Nigeria’s World Cup match against South Korea in 2010.

Naija News recalls how Nigerians expected the Super Eagles to perform well against South Korea in their final match after losing their first two games in Group B against Argentina and Greece.

The Super Eagles only managed a 2-2 draw in their match against South Korea on June 22, 2010, having played well.

However, a lot of Nigerians are still having trouble understanding what could have been the Super Eagles’ winning goal but Aiyegbeni missed the chance.

In a video that went viral on Twitter, the former Everton striker, while talking to a reporter, said: “I cannot apologize because it was not a deliberate miss. I seriously wanted to score. “But it wasn’t to be. So many strikers have missed chances too, and nobody will apologize so I won’t.”

After departing Everton in the 2010/2011 season, the 40-year-old forward played for a few other English clubs such as Leicester city, Blackburn, and Reading, before joining Kayserispor in Turkey.
