The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the just concluded Osun State governorship election, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has claimed that money influenced the election.

Naija News reports that Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had defeated incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election held on Saturday.

Speaking through one of his aides, Stephen Owolabi, Ogunbiyi said operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the police failed to stop vote buying.

He, however, said Osun people had made their choice, and he had no problem with their decision.

“The election was all about money. Money was shared openly. The operatives of the EFCC and police didn’t do anything. They even brought money to Ogunbiyi’s polling unit and ward. EFCC didn’t do enough.

“Despite the outcome of the election, the Accord Party candidate is in good spirit. He even went to church to thank God that none of those who worked with him died.

“In the election, Osun people made their choice and no problem about that,” Ogunbiyi said.
