Live Updates: Osun State Governorship Election 2022

The Osun State governorship election kicks off today with many residents coming out in their numbers to elect the leader to pilot the affairs of the State for the next four years.

Naija News reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is working to retain the state for another four years and prevent parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, Accord Party and others from winning.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC is up against Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDP, Rt Hon. Yusuf Lasun of the Labour Party and Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord Party.

Update: Most of the registered voters in PU16, Ward 1, Isale Osun, Osogbo LGA have already cast their votes. The electoral officers and the electorate are waiting for the exercise to end.

Update: Voting has ended in PU 11, Ward 04, Ila-Orangun, but some voters are waiting to monitor the sorting and counting of the ballots.

Update: Voters told TheCable that party agents gave them ₦5,000 each while some others said they received ₦3,000 at PUs 2 and 7, Bode-Osi Ward 8, Olaoluwa LGA.

12:23: Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola is yet to cast his vote at PU 1, Ward 8, Ilesha East

US consulate election observers are on ground at PU 004, Ward 04, Oba Laoye Grammer School, Ede South.

10:45: Accord Party governorship candidate Akin Ogunbiyi has cast his vote in the Osun gubernatorial election.

10:40: The Personal Assistant of the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties in Osun State, Olalekan Badmus has been reportedly arrested.  According to Punch, the PA to the commission was allegedly detained at the Oke Baale Police Station. A post had claimed that the commissioner’s PA was arrested with thumb-printed ballot papers.

9:05: The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ademola Adeleke, has cast his vote in the ongoing gubernatorial election in Osun State. Adeleke around 9: 05 am cast his vote at Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde/Sagba, Ede North in the state.

Voting has commenced in the Osun Governorship election, with electorates trooping out in their numbers to vote for their preferred governorship candidate.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are currently on the ground in Osun State to curb vote buying during the governorship election in the state today (Saturday).

The operatives of the anti-graft agency arrived at the Freedom Park, Old Garage, Osogbo, the state capital around 8 am.

Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the PDP, has arrived at his polling unit PU 009, Ward 02, Abogunde, Ede North LGA.

Accreditation and voting have also commenced at PU 03, Isale Oba Ward 3, Iwo LGA
