De Jong’s initial plan was to remain in Barcelona. Man United manager Erik ten Hag is, however, interested in signing the Netherlands international which has now given a green light.

Barcelona already had made it open that the 25-year-old is leaving the club, this is as the club currently suffers extreme financial issues and is ready to cash in on one of its prized assets.

Reports on Friday affirmed that De Jong has privately admitted he is ready to join the Premier League side after initial doubts.
