There was tension in Sokoto State on Thursday morning after a lady was beaten to death over alleged blasphemy.

The victim is said to be a student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in‪ Sokoto State.

SaharaReporters reported that the unnamed lady was set ablaze by her colleagues for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Naija News learnt that she was burnt to death by Muslim students who dragged her out of her hostel.

It could be recalled that in March last year, some angry youths in Sade community in the Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State burnt a man identified as Talle Mai Ruwa, to death for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad.

The victim according to reports, was dragged away from his house in the presence of his mother and burnt to death in the middle of the community.

Pictures from the incident shared by eyewitnesses showed the victim with tyres and set on fire.

Eyewitnesses that spoke on the incident had told SaharaReporters that the youths contributed money to buy petrol to set Mai Ruwa ablaze.

A resident said, “The young man was killed by a mob in Sade town for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad. He was dragged from his house by a mob and forcibly set ablaze after being tied to an old car tyre.

“The village youths donated money to buy the petrol that was used to burn and kill Talle Mai Ruwa.”

Another source noted that the angry youths had taken the victim before Islamic clerics where he was asked questions.
