Socialite Ogbolu Who Shared Fuel As Souvenir At Lagos Party Bags Jail Term

A Lagos mobile court sitting at the premises of the State Task Office in Oshodi has on Friday convicted socialite, Ms Ogbulu Chindinma Pearl over an offence of sharing fuel as souvenir at a party.

The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Kehinde Ogundare found Ogbolu guilty of section 251(1), 168 (1), 244 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 and Section 195 (2)(b) of the Environmental Management Protection Law of Lagos State 2017.

She was therefore sentenced to three months imprisonment on the first count with an option of N15,000 and one-year imprisonment each on counts 2 and 3 with an option of a fine of N500, 000 each.

Naija News recalls the Lagos State Police Command arrested Pearl Chidinma Ogbolu, popularly known as Erelu Okin, over her controversial party in the state.

She was arrested and charged to court for distributing kegs of petrol as souvenirs at the event which was held in Havilah Events Centre in Oniru, Victoria Island, on March 4.

Explaining why she shared fuel as a souvenir in Lagos State during her event, Ogbolu had said she only wanted to show appreciation to guests who turned up for her chieftaincy installation ceremony despite the hard times caused by fuel scarcity.

The Lagos socialite was however found guilty of the charges brought against her with the judge submitting that the prosecution had successfully proven the charge against the defendant beyond all reasonable doubts.
