Former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki and other chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are holding a meeting in Abuja today over the 2023 elections.
Two northern state governors, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto are present at the meeting, Naija News reports.
A related meeting was held recently in Bauchi by the trio.
Naija News understands that the PDP leaders’ constant meeting is not unconnected with the 2023 presidential ticket expected to be keenly contested.
A source who spoke with Daily Post had said consultations are ongoing regarding the agreement of a consensus PDP flagbearer to face that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next general elections.
Meanwhile, renowned journalist and publisher, Ovation Magazine International, Chief Dele Momodu has ascribed Nigeria’s current challenges to bad leadership.
Momodu who was appealing to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to allow him to take up the party’s 2023 presidential ticket, said he stands a good chance of becoming Nigeria’s next leader if supported by popular musicians like Davido, Wizkid, Burnaboy and Olamide.
Naija News understands that Momodu submitted on Thursday morning when he appeared on Channels TV Sunrise Daily.
Momodu who was fielding questions on why many Nigerian youths don’t vote during general elections said the present generation were brought up to believe that nothing good can come out of Nigeria.
He stressed that the youths were brought up to distrust any politician, thereby creating even more layers of disconnect between the old and the young generation.
Momodu said the top-rated musicians commanded a large following of young fans, who constitute the largest voting population in Nigeria and could mobilise the electorate to vote massively for a candidate, Naija News reports.
