Reactions As Court Sentences Evans To Life Imprisonment

Nigerians have reacted to the life imprisonment sentence awarded to the notorious kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans.

Naija News reports that Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja sentenced Evans and his co-defendants, Uchenna Amadi and Okuchuwkwu Nwachukwu after convicting them on two counts of conspiracy and kidnapping of Duru.

The trial judge, Justice Oshodi stated that the video evidence tendered against the notorious kidnapper proved that he was guilty of the crimes he is accused of.

The Lagos State Government had arraigned Evans and his co-defendant for allegedly kidnapping the Managing Director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Limited, Donatus Dunu February 14, 2017.

Also, the billionaire kidnapper is also facing similar charges before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo and Justice Adedayo Akintoye of the same court.

Reacting to the development, some Nigerians applauded the ruling, asking the Nigerian government to ensure that the notorious kidnapper is not released in the future.

Others wondered why the trial took several years and the reason the sentence of the kidnapper is coming at a time the suspended commander of the Intelligence and Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, is under investigation for drug trafficking.
