The death has been reported of a 21-year-old footballer, Alexandros Lampis who slumped and died during a football match in Greek.
It was gathered that the 21-year-old player, who played for Ilioupoli in the third tier of Greek football suffered a cardiac arrest during the match between his team and Ermionida.
Lampis, an attacking midfielder slumped just five minutes into the game at the First Municipal Stadium in a south-eastern suburb of Athens on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, there was no defibrillator or ambulance at the stadium when the incident happened.
The match had to be suspended according to the Sun.
The player’s death was later announced by his club on their website.
“Our Aleko, our friend, our brother, you left so unjustly. The whole team, the whole city, is mourning today.
“The words do not come out… only an unbearable pain and a knot in the stomach. Have a good trip Alecara,” the club statement read.
