EPL: Ruben Dias Extends Contract With Manchester City

Portuguese professional footballer, Ruben Dos Santos Gato Alves Dias, better known as Ruben Dias has extended his stay at the Etihad stadium.

Naija News recalls that the 24-year-old joined Manchester City from Benfica in September 2020. The centre-back has penned a new deal with Pep Guardiola‘s side and would continue to play for the English Premier League champions until 2027.

Confirming Dias contract extension in a post on its official Twitter handle on Monday, City wrote: ‘We are delighted to announce that @rubendias has signed a new six-year contract!

‘Having joined from Benfica last September, Dias’ new deal will keep him at the club through until the summer of 2027,” the statement added.

Delighted with the contract extension, Dias said he was happy City was able to make sure it happened.

Dias said: “It means a lot and it speaks for itself. I am very happy, and I am also very happy that the club felt the confidence to do it,”

“The club wants to be the best and that is an ambition I love and want to be a part of. I share the ambition of the club and that is probably one of the most important things.”

He added in a tweet: “Delighted to extend my stay after a great first year in Manchester.

“Thank you to everyone who has made me feel so at home.

“Now we look forward. The work has only just begun.”

Meanwhile, Portuguese international, Cristiano Ronaldo has completed his Manchester United medical as he closes on a return to his former club.
