The Kaduna State government led by Governor Nasir El-Rufai has denied issuing any 10-point plan to tackle banditry in the state.

The clarification was given after a social media post claimed the state government had issued a 10-point plan to curb banditry and other security challenges in the state.

According to the social media post on a personal Twitter handle with username @Galadima_Samaru, the Kaduna State government plans to among other things, set up a cattle ranch in Birnin Gwari area of the state, open Africa’s largest abattoir in Kafanchan, spend 45% of its annual budget on education, etc.

Below is the post.

However, the state government in a quick response has denied issuing such, noting that all major events and policy statements come through official platforms.

It warned the members of the public to beware of fake news.

“Malam Nasir el-Rufai pushes for more security operations to enable economic take-off in the Birnin Gwari area. Efforts to make the area a hub for mining and agriculture have not yet reached the lofty targets being falsely peddled as KDSG’s 10-point plan for solving banditry,” the statement clarified.

KDSG did not author or issue the said 10-point plan which contains untrue claims about contacts and agreements with partners. The public should note that all KDSG major events and policy statements are clearly announced on official platforms.”

Meanwhile, Senate President Ahmad Lawan has stated that political intervention is the solution to ending the Fulani herdsmen crisis and activities of bandits/kidnapping in the country.

Lawan made this known in a speech delivered on Tuesday during plenary to welcome lawmakers back from the Christmas/New Year recess, according to a statement on Tuesday.

He called on political leaders to get involved to help end the security crisis rocking the nation, adding that leaders in the country need to unite against criminality.

The Senate president also urged the leaders to resist the antics of divisive elements bent on instigating inter-ethnic tensions across the country.

Ahmad Lawan appealed to Nigerians for calm in view of the recent inter-tribal agitations and conflicts in some states in the South-West part of the country.
