The All Progressives Congress has declare that it is ready to welcome back its members who defected to other political parties in the past.

The party said this while reacting to the recent decision by some high profile politicians to return to the APC.

Naija News recalls former House of Reps Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 elections, returned to the APC in July 2020.

Similarly, Chief Barnabas Gemade, a former PDP National Chairman has also defected to the APC.

In its reaction to the developments, the ruling party noted that their door is open to all former members who left for one reason or the other to stage a return.

“We assure all true progressives who left the party over whatever grievance to return and join ongoing efforts to reposition the APC and further achieve our pro-people plans for the country,” the party said in a statement by its Deputy National Publicity Secretary Yekini Nabena.

It will be recalled that some prominent politicians such as former vice president Atiku Abubakar, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former senate president Bukola Saraki, and many others left the APC for PDP in the build-up to the 2019 general elections in Nigeria.
