Why Prominent Figures Are Contracting COVID-19, What We Plan To Do – PTF

The increasing rate at which government officials are contracting the COVID-19 is very alarming and has a direct impact on people in the government and the security in the country, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 yesterday lamented.

Through its Chairman, Boss Mustapha, the PTF noted that there is the possibility of placing fresh lockdown orders in the country, in order to curb the spread of the virus.

Mustapha stated that the virus doesnt respect any societal status, while advising the governmental officials, and prominent Nigerians should take the precautionary measures seriously.

Several public figures especially governors has contracted the disease, including David Umahi of Ebonyi, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and their Ondo State counterpart, Rotimi  Akeredolu.

When the disease first broke out, governor Bala Mohammed of Borno state, Malam Nasir El-Rufai Of Kaduna, Seyi Makinde of Oyo etc. all contracted it, but have fully recovered now.

Former chief of staff to the President, Abba Kyari and Former Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi have died as a result of complications from COVID-19.

Mustapha therefore warned people in authority, saying “Of recent, we have witnessed a high rate of positive cases especially among people in authority. This has a direct impact on governance and security of our nation. We urge that vigilance and care should be exhibited by all Nigerians, irrespective of status. This virus does not discriminate and the PTF shall keep sustaining its sensitisation messaging.”
